Your Wedding Day at the Cross Lanes
Detailed information about our services and guidance for planning your wedding day
Wedding Breakfast
Whether your preference is for a formal or informal reception, for a banquet or a buffet, we have several menu suggestions to choose from. These menus are offered as a guide and we would be happy to discuss your own special requirements and design a menu of your choice.
All our chefs and staff are encouraged at all times to show off their passion and enthusiasm. They seek out local fresh produce wherever possible to ensure that the fayre offered is at its best.
Wines and Toasts
Wines are continually tasted and updated and we will be pleased to recommend a choice of wines to ensure the best possible combination with the menu chosen.
To help you with your planning we have put together some suggested wine packages ideally suited to weddings but please remember these are only suggestions. Our main wine list has over seventy wines from around the world, all personally tasted and selected to represent excellent value for money within their style and origin.
Allow up to two glasses for each guest with the meal and one glass of sparkling wine or champagne for the toast.
Toastmaster
A professional toastmaster can often add that little bit more colour to the occasion and make the reception as formal or informal as you wish. Charges will be supplied on application.
Speeches
The speeches usually follow the meal. Traditionally, the first speech is given by the Bride's Father, Relative or a close friend of the family, who toasts the Bride and Groom. He is followed by the Groom who responds on behalf of his bride and himself, thanks the guests and toasts the bridesmaids. The Best Man speaks last, thanking the groom on behalf of the Bridesmaids and reads any cards or e-mails. Finally, giving a toast to the Bride's Parents and the Bride and/or Groom.
There is no need to worry about the speeches. We will be happy to advise and quote on writing your speeches if you wish.
Evening Receptions
Evening receptions, following the wedding breakfast during the day, are usually more informal and are ideal for inviting more of your personal friends. We have a number of finger buffets and wedding suppers ideal for this type of function. As well as our suggestions we have a buffet selector to allow you to make
up your own buffet if you wish.
Why not make your evening reception extra special and use our chocolate fountain ideal if you have children present but if not, who can resist the smooth Belgian chocolate? Please ask for details.
Discotheques / Bands
We will be pleased to arrange a discotheque, band or entertainment for an evening reception on your behalf. The cost will be as applicable at the time. Our resident DJ is particularly good for weddings, playing a wide range of music to suit different ages and tastes of your guests.
The Honeymoon Night
Whether you are having your reception at the hotel or not, we have several rooms particularly suitable for the first night of your honeymoon, including your choice of two Four Poster Rooms.
For the brides, when the day and evening reception are held at Cross Lanes, there is an added bonus. Included in the facility fee a complimentary superior double bedroom or 50% off one of our four poster rooms including half a bottle of champagne, chocolates and fresh fruit basket.
For your guests
Any guests attending your reception wishing to stay for one or more nights are eligible for a special discount off the full rate accommodation tariff of 15% or 10% off the two day leisure break rate. They can enjoy the use of the Brasserie and Bar, where quality food cooked simply with fresh local ingredients, is served at sensible prices. Enhanced by a good selection of beers and drinks with at least twenty wines served by the glass, it is a delightful setting to relax and dine.
Booking arrangements and quotations
Provisional bookings can be held for up to one week and should be confirmed in writing, by completing the booking confirmation form together with the appropriate deposit. This form includes all the information we need at this initial stage.
We would recommend that we meet up with you at least 10-12 weeks prior to the wedding day to finalise all the arrangements. We will then confirm these arrangements in writing and enclose a pro-forma invoice which will detail the costs. Any amendments can then be made in plenty of time. Final numbers of guests attending should be notified to us 14 days prior to your reception and will be the minimum numbers charged.
Flower Arrangements
An approximate cost of flowers for the table are shown on the price sheet. May we recommend that small posy bowls are ideal for the guests' tables and two long low arrangements are the perfect balance for a buffet or top table. We will be happy to get a costing for your specific requirements or why not contact our recommended florist directly for ideas.
Insurance
Insurance can now be taken out to protect against unforeseen cancellation of a Wedding Reception. As this includes the deposit we thoroughly advise that this insurance be taken out at the time of booking.
